note on Mileage
I have included approximate overall mileages but have not listed mileage
markers for each turn onto different trails or roads. The reasoning
behind this is that I myself do not ride with a bike computer nor do
many of the more experienced riders that I know. On extreme rides, bike
computers can break off (the last three I owned have) and mileages
between computers on different bikes seem to be inconsistent. I have
frequently been misled by mileage markers in most guidebooks. I like to
use landmarks, trail descriptions, and a map and compass to determine my
location. That being said, as mentioned in the site disclaimer, these
directions and maps are for experienced mountain bikers who consistently
utilize maps and a compass to determine their location. If you are not
comfortable with this method, do not rely on this material. |
